Jim Carthaus has 40 years of experience in management, financial services and investment banking including mergers and acquisitions, lease financing and bankruptcy/restructuring.
Prior to joining Scott-Macon in 1990, Mr. Carthaus was Group Head of the Financial Services Division at Shearson Lehman Brothers where he was also a member of the Firm-wide Commitment Committee responsible for the approval of all domestic and international underwriting commitments as well as the firm’s own capital commitments. Mr. Carthaus began his career in commercial banking at Citibank and National Bank of North America and subsequently joined Bell Equipment, an equipment leasing company, as Vice President for Planning. Following the sale of Bell Equipment, Mr. Carthaus founded Loeb Rhoades Leasing Services which subsequently became Shearson Leasing Corporation.
Mr. Carthaus has had significant experience in bankruptcy and restructuring assignments during his investment banking career including serving as Trustee-in-Bankruptcy in U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Southern District of New York, for 12 years.
Mr. Carthaus is a graduate of Yale University (B.A.) and The London School of Economics.
